1959 FORD FAIRLINE 500 RETRACTABLE SKYLINER WITH POWER WINDOWS
The Ford Fairlane 500 Skyliner is a two-door five passenger full-size car with a retractable hardtop that was produced by Ford Motor Company for the model years 1957 to 1959. The Fairlane 500 Skyliner was launched as part of the second generation Ford Fairlane, It is an early 1959 model still carrying the Fairline 500 brand, when the model name changed to Ford Galaxie Skyliner very shortly after production of the 1959 models had started, making this an extra rare example.
The retractable roof mechanism – also known as “Hide-Away Hardtop” – was unique to Ford branded products, and was not offered on Continental, Lincoln, Mercury or Edsel branded vehicles during this time period.
This example wears the knock-your-socks off gorgeous Geranium & Colonial White factory colors. Body on restoration by by Retractable Club member of a rust free unmolested original early Fairlane example, still looks fresh throughout. Nice headliner, upholstery, floors, needs nothing. Everything works as it should. Clear title in seller’s name. After market radio with USB port, unsure if it works, fits in original radio space.
The 292 motor runs strong, dual exhaust, optional “Turbine” wheel covers, wide whitewall tires. Some say the 1959 Ford is one of Ford’s all time best designs.
If you ever wanted a true present day classic that will always turn heads at shows or cruising, this is that one!
The Skyliner is located at my office next to John Wayne Airport (SNA) in Irvine, CA. Titled in my name.
Offering for my investment $35,000.
